I'm not sure about this year, whether or not I'll still do a marathon but I did register for it. Penang Bridge Marathon seven km thingy. Contemplating, still.
Next year, Japan. Eurotrip. Sky Diving. New iPhone perhaps?
I'll be back for a more in depth update. I have abandoned you long enough, LiveJournal.

| Next up: Arthur Kopit’s Oh Dad, Poor Dad, Mamma’s Hung You In the Closet and I’m Feelin’ So Sad |
[18 Aug 2009|11:47pm] |
A woman-in-mourning checks into a lavish hotel with her neurotic son, a pet piranha and a pair of Venus flytraps. Moments after, a wealthy, love-stricken naval officer and the seductive, next-door babysitter pay them a visit. The fish and plants are now very hungry, the son wants to escape, and the woman’s dead husband is still lurking about somewhere…
A bizarre take on all things love, Oh Dad, Poor Dad parodies the domineering, protective mother who tries to smother her son, and also the son himself, who is too naïve and sheltered. It premiered on Off-Broadway in 1962 and won the Vernon Rice and Outer Circle Awards in that same year. Oh Dad, Poor Dad was recently revived at Harvard University in 2007.
Featuring Nicole-Ann Thomas, Alfred Loh and Hanneke Talbot, with the ensemble of Aple Ang, John Aren, Jay Delancy, Linda Foo, Kevin Kei, Ishwin Singh, Raja Ummi and Az’farr Baginda. Directed by Kelvin Wong.

| RIP: Yasmin Ahmad, Most Malaysian of Filmmakers, The Lady Who Smiles |
[26 Jul 2009|01:50am] |
R.I.P.Yasmin Ahmad(1958-2009) The first thing I remember about Yasmin Ahmad was her smile. She had the most wonderful smile - happy, joyful, cheeky, and genuine. When she smiled at you, you genuinely felt that she was actually being happy AND being happy for you at the same time.
I first heard of Yasmin Ahmad when I saw Sepet. It was the first Malaysian movie in AGES that I'd seen, and it was also one of the most wonderful little films I had ever seen. It reminded me of my own childhood, growing up in Temerloh, and it was one of the most... MALAYSIAN movie I'd ever watched.
I first met Yasmin at the premiere of Gubra. Though I never got a chance to really talk to her properly, she seemed a nice, friendly person, someone I wouldn't mind having a chat with.
The next time I met Yasmin, it was during an awards show after party. She'd presented an award for best music video or something, which was memorable because she was the only one who wasn't speaking Chinese in the whole event. After that, I met her in the after party, where she mused out loud that she would love getting that Michael Wong Guang Liang guy in a movie, because he had a certain kind of 'local boy' look that she wanted.
I met Yasmin two other times after that, both in airports. The first, was when I was on the way back from Hong Kong. I went up to her to say hi, not expecting her to remember me, and she immediately knew who I was (never mind that she didn't remember my name haha).
The second airport encounter was when we were coming back from Japan, I think (or it could be Hong Kong again). This time, she actually recognized me, and I told her that we needed to stop meeting at airports like this. She laughed.
That was the last I remember of her. Since then, I never saw her again,
My encounters with Yasmin may seem insignificant when compared to those who had close relations, personally or professionally, with her. But I will always remember her as the lady who made wonderfully Malaysian movies, even if some idiots didn't think it was 'Malaysian' enough. I will remember her for those wonderfully poignant and quintessentially Malaysian ads she made. To me, she was the most Malaysian of Malaysian filmmakers, one who understood the need, and knew how to ascend race, religion and language, and to combine us all under One Malaysia: Her Ideal Malaysia.
But personally, above all her achievements, I will always remember her as the lady who smiled.
Rest in Peace, Yasmin Ahmad. We'll miss you greatly.

I have not:-
1. Gone running for the past two weeks, at least. 2. Gone swimming for three, four weeks. I forget. 3. Read any news on Yahoo!, or Times, or CNN, or anywhere, to begin with. 4. Had salad for meals since last week. 5. Had not spent the weekend in just to sleep, since forever. 6. Blogged a proper update for more than a month, now. 7. Gone hiking for a month. 8. Used my camera or taken any pictures since Camboland. 9. Wake up to a rainy day, and still be able to stay in bed. 10. Written properly since eternity. 11. SEEN HARRY POTTER *sobs and cries and whatnots* 12. DONE ANY GERMAN LESSONS AT ALL. And worse, I don't remember the last time I did one.
I think that's all.
SYARSHINE I LOVE THE CARD YOU SENT. It was so timely. Totally made my day.

Crack the Shutters - Snow Patrol |
] |
Snow Patrol's Crack the Shutters rock. I remember the awesomeblossom feeling of watching them live in Sydney.
And it feels great knowing that an hour of running and another hour and a half of swimming can turn your day around.
This weekend has been unproductively, lethargically, and restlessly tiring. minus the fact that MNG's sale has been the best thing ever.
Can't wait for Singapore next month. Four more weeks to be exact. I want to get: 1. A Diana lomo (not sure which one, yet) 2. MOS BURGER. ggkthnxzbai. 3. Beer from Brewerkz 4. Morton's apple martini and awesome steak sandwich 5. Visit MUJI'S. 6. Look for running shoes. 7. Shop for clothes? 8. Get another bag from Clark Quay. 9. iPod screen protector 10. Check iPhone pricing. 11. CDs!!!!!!!! OMG, shop for CDs!! 12. Eat, eat, eat, eat. 13. Drink, drink, drink, drink, drink and be merry! By end of August I should be able to decide whether or not I'm still flying to Japan in March. Meanwhile, must go meet financial planner. So that I can still go to Germany end of next year.
JC's gonna be back next month, Meeting Murray and be host for a couple of days in November (he's flying in from Tokyo, just to see mes! Heh) and yeh that's about it I suppose.
No hiking this coming weekend, but will prolly do more rock climbing.

MOS Burger Unite! Singapore next month, W00t, Mortons FTW.
So I was thinkething right, that if I wanna go Japan next year and Germany too, I've to settle my finances really well.
Japan, there'd be, free accommodation (Wess, you're awesomeblossoms) cheaper food (apparently I can eat for cheap too, according to Wess) and not to mention, flight tickets are only RM1206 including tax. Say, six k enough kan? Or less.
Then Europe. No free accommodation. No cheap food. Flight tickets are still in the range of RM2500 - RM3+++ Say, ten k there. Or more.
*counts*
Leave Japan? I will not sacrifice going to Germany end of next year.
I can see that my mother's rolling her eyes right now, as I swore I'd not leave the country for another year and a half. heh.
Comments!
(Ah, binge drinking one of this weekend. Aruns come back soons!)

Quiet - Rachael Yamagata |

I have learnt much more at work in these two weeks than I have, spent five years in school.
Weekends, running (yeay, finally!), swimming, getting new goggles I ish broke.
On the list, barbecue, more swimming, more running hopefully (I've given up trying to wake up at seven to run each morning for the past two weeks) pesto pasta lessons DDR lessons (noooooooooo!!, you're ebil even if you don't read this) MORE ROCK CLIMBING *freaks out and dies* I want to go cycling but I've no bicycle. less drinking, sheesh. Less spraining neck, gah so annoying. More theater meetings *tiring la* eating less carbs eat more fruits Make sandwiches! Must read book. Must finish at least one German lesson a week! Darn not productive.
All I do all day is eat and eat and going out and eat and arcade-ing. I spend way too much money on food, Bleh.
Singapore in July, I've a feeling I'll end up going alone. Ohwellsh. Morton's FTW. And getting tonnes of CDs! And Muji's!! And MOS burger! And apparently, there's a crazy sale there too. NOT GOOD. Not good. Not good. Stop me, someone. because I can find a million reasons to justify why I should be buying stuffs in July. Double bleh. Who wants to come?
Kay, shleep time. Will try waking up to run tomorrow if my limbs don't feel like they're gonna fall off anytime.

Save You - Matther Perryman Jones |
] |
You see, I think working's rather liberating. Mehbe it's not fair to say so because I only had one day of work as of yet, and that wasn't even working.
But I love how I don't have to come home knowing I've to type reports, or rush for stupid assignments and study all night for exams.
I feel like I've all the time in the world to do whatever I want.
Rock climbing was so much fun so scary and painful to the feet and fingers but I know I'll do it again, just for the adrenaline rush and screaming "NO I'M STAYING UP HERE, SO DON'T YOU DARE ASK ME TO COME DOWN!" I never knew I had that much of a problem with heights, till then. Yeah.
That, and killing zombies, having beer for cheap during happy hours, dinner over mamaks, chilling at ze cafe while writing and watching people paint pretty things with Photoshop, swimming the next day for a good whole hour before it started raining, awesome Japanese dinner, thanksGillytheWilly! and knowing that as much as I'm not looking forward to having tonnes of work to do because it's Monday, I'm totally up for waking up at seven in the morning to run around the park next to my house before leaving for the office. And if I get to come home early, I might do another round of running again.
You very well know I never fit in well in school. It's too constricting and limiting for a person such as me. Mmhmm.
Weekends never felt so fulfilling before.
Over and out.

| Auf Wiederschauen!! |
[15 May 2009|12:58am] |
For now, I bid ye goodbye.
Work starts in approximately 9 hours. And though I've still the weekend to look forward to, I forsee that I'll prolly disappear for the next six months.
Other than rock climbing all day till I drop (literally) on Saturday, church and swimming on Sunday, Unabashed's gig on Tuesday, it's all work and no play. Not anymore. Time to be serious, yo! So I apologise beforehand about not being able to do dinner or hang out on weekdays and Sundays from July onwards.
May - June: To reorganise work schedule, new tasks, be friends with clients, re-learn how briefs are written, etc.
June - September: Another three months to do proper work, plus rehearsals at night, four times a week every night, and getting publicity running, and looking for sponsors, and more slaving.
Yes, I'm stage managing again for a play in October/September. Just got back from TOS's meeting and I'm all excited about how things are turning out already. The freaking sadistically disturbing yet entertaining script is giving me the goose bumps.
This is where I test my limits of doing two things at the same time, while keeping everyone happy while at it.
I may sound like I'm crazy, cause how in the world can one stage manage and work in an advertising agency where deadlines are sial tight all at the same time, right?
Beats me, I'll let you know how it goes.
But one thing's for sure. Whatever happens, I'll have to do both perfectly well. No room for mistakes, and I've to be damn efficient with managing people and time.
Ouh, the challenge. I therefore welcome no-time-to-breathe-eat-sleep-read with open arms.
Let the phone ring inccessantly, and e-mails overflow.
This'll be fun.

I didn't like Sydney all that much at first. It reminded me way to much of KayEll. The traffic congestion, and er, sometimes safety. But it's a city, and cities are cities. As much similarities as they must have, it's after all, a city. Traffic and crowds would be two things you cannot avoid.
I like Sydney even more, now! The fact that it's so accessible to anywhere. Wanna go to the beach? Just a ferry ride away. The zoo? A ferry ride away. Hiking and jungle trekking? A ferry ride away. Pubs, bars and cafe? A train ride away. Or bus ride away. Awesome museums that you can spend all day at? A walk away. Parks to spend lunch time at, or just to go running? A train ride away.
So convenient, I must say. It's like there's everything in Sydney, everything. All in the center.
Absolutely love it.
And not to mention that there's too many awesome bands that goes there to play every month, or week, or day. Bands that you'll never get in Malaysia, sadly.
Must cross over to Milson's Point from the bridge.
It's where you can find all the yachts and pretty houses that costs millions of dollars, and awesome view of the Sydney Harbour.
Try getting lost in the city, take a walk along The Rocks area where they've all kinds of restaurants that serve awfully good food and puppet shops! Must check out the markets during the weekend too. Pretty clothes and artsy paintings and what nots, great place to shop if you've way too much cash to spend.
The Botanical Park houses the Parliament House, I love the park here, it overlooks the bridge, and plenty of flowers. Perfect way to spend lunch or bask under the sun when it gets a bit cold.
And if you're way too free and don't feel like taking a train, try walking from CBD to King's Cross though it'll be insane to try to get to Bondi Junction from here. I got sooooo lost, I tell you.
Like I mentioned, a ferry ride away from Manly beach,
and cheap steak! Damn good.
Two highlights that I adored about Sydney, I could go surfing!
Was so fun! Now only if I've a surfing kaki back here, and we could soooo go.
And of course, the V Festival that I managed to catch!
There was Snow Patrol, Kaiser Chiefs, The Killers, Howling Bells and my favourite Elbow!
The concert was spectacular. Despite the fact that I've to run from one stage to another to catch those different bands. Freaking tiring but totally worth it. The exhilaration and anticipation and excitement when you manage to get to stand in the front row.
Finally, sunsets in Sydney is a must watch.
It's gorgeous. The sky changes colour every few minutes, absolutely beautiful.
Night life too!
Well then, the end of my Australia leg.
Hope you enjoyed it!!

Wet and Rusting - Menomena |
] |
Yeay! Script Frenzy is so over and I've only managed to write 16 pages of crap. Awesomeness.
Been travelling, again.
Was in Singapore with the Whabbit and some other random people whose name I cannot mention due to life and death reasons, haha. Then was in JB doing nothing but rot in front of the pc, then back to Singapore again to catch Rachael Yamagata perform live at the Esplanade, then to JB to rot somemore, then to Singapore to catch ze flight to KK which was annoyingly delayed for two hours.
But that aside, Adelaide!
I was so lazy I didn't even colour correct these pictures, therefore minimal editing.
Warning: Too adorable aminals present
So I arrived in beautiful, absolutely beautiful Adelaide and was then brought to dinner at an Italian restaurant by the beach.
I had one of the best beef porterhouse kebab ever! And the next day right after that I was shipped off on a tour to Kangaroo Island, which I LOVE!
I love Adelaide, yes. So much. The skies are always so blue, and weather nothing like Melbourne. Erm, yeah so I went to this tempat where they have like, tonnes of seals. The view is spectacular, yo! And then to this aminal farm-zoo thing where they have, well yeah, aminals.
The koalas here don't stink. and touching them is just sooo fun cause their fur is super soft.
Ze roos are extremely friendly- they'll let you feed them by hand.
So then there was this little baby kangaroo that got hit by the car and was sheltering at the Eucalyptus place. It broke its entire jaw and stuff, so yeah, kesian.
This was mostly how the roads looked like in KI.
Then I got back to my backpackers, went out later at night to hunt for the penguins, no pictures though, cause I couldn't take any. But the night sky was filled with stwars, just astronomical. And I was obviously more dumbfounded with the sky filled with those stwars that we cannot see here, than those little penguins that I thought was suppose to be huge.
Hit the roads the next day to see er, rocks.
Huge, big chunk of rocks that oversee the ocean. Off to the honey farm, nyumz!
Honey tasting was fun. But er yeah I think that was about it.
Kangaroo Island is vewwy vewwy pweety, yes. Back to the land of Adelaide, and was then shipped off again to another tour! By my beloved aunt.
Wine tour this time round. To Wolf Blass, they have awesomelicious wines! Erm, no pictures cause I was too busy drinking. Lols.
And made a short lunch stop at this quaint lil' German town called Hahndorf.
So yeah, just basically walked around.
Bought myself the most delicious milkshake ever. Made some friends with old people. Not that it's a bad thing.
Fairies in your garden, anybody?
Took more pictures. That was it.
When I got back later in the evening, went to check out the CBD with ze aunt.
Adelaide's CBD is rather quaint too, you can find like, old record shops and they sell all sorts of stuffs.
Plus, they had a bar upstairs too. Reminded me of Melbourne.
Had more awesome Italian risotto, and eh, managed to catch the Fringe Festival!!
Best thing ever. The Fringe Festival is the largest art festival in Aussie.
Though I didn't get to do everything, or catch every single play that they had, I still got to watch Punch and Judy, goth version! (Too dark for pictures) I've never watched Punch and Judy in my entire life, so was rather excited.
Glad I went, most hilarious puppet show ever.
Then they had this coffee shop with a bus's skeleton in it, or something like that.
And a bar in the bus! So cool.
Alrighties, done with Adelaide for now.
Last stop, Sydney!

You ebil whabbit, you're going to Japan!
*rawrs*
I LOVE MELBOURNE.
There's just so much to see, so much to do, and so much to eat.
*psst* (Jamie Oliver's restaurant is one of them) Aside from your stupid, pathetic, unpredictably frustrating weather, dear Melbourne, you're actually quite attractive I must say.
*pfft*
Melbourne, or in other words how I like to call it, Si Melibourne, is a city densed with all sorts of artsy-fartsy-craftsy-paintysy-simplysy stuffs all over the place.
From great architecture to whacked-out weird buildings in Northcote
Cow on a tree in Docklands to an abundance of cafes and awesome coffee on Collins St. From pubs in hidden lanes to the rooftop cafe
to super colourful-ly contrasted graffiti on the wall and on the floor.
And a smoking statue.
It is absolutely the place to eat
drink
and of course, party the night away with crazy friends
Queen Victoria's market is a definite must go.
There's so much to eat, and buy at the same time. Plus, they don't cost an arm and a leg.
Trams are all over the place
and so are awesome looking posters.
Remember Punch and Judy?
And someplace far, far away okay maybe not that far away, but an hour away from the CBD, lies my loft La Trobe university.
Where I learnt that it's awesome to study theater
or just to mess around with people who are into theater.
Well then of course in every trip, it must be accompanied by a side-tour of the Great Ocean Road.
Please don't ever take the one day tour because it is very, very tiring.
The Twelve Apostles and other miscellanous pictures of the beach that I took when I sneaked away during lunch while everyone was busy snacking on their bacon, cheese and ham sandwiches. I hope I've entertained you enough till now, for there are way too many pictures to post up that I'd rather you see, than read what I wrote.
The Wicked Musical is to die for, Meli, go!
Melbourne's awesome,
it really is.
Now if only they have decent Asian food that I can put up with. Hrmm.
